So, I missed it by a few weeks. I was still on hiatus from the blog when the results were announced and only just recently decided to try to write some more entries. I was eagerly awaiting the results though, figuring I'd be happy with anyone being elected (see, I am one of those "water the Hall down" kind of guys, because I think the mixture is still a little too elite), but was especially hopeful for Gil Hodges. Eternally optimistic that his career will one day be recognized with the highest honor, we Hodges fans were again the recipient of a firm snubbing!
So, in honor of the one man who did get the call, local Seattleite Ron Santo, congrats on your election to the Hall of Fame. Sadly, you won't have the pleasure of reading this or any other salutes...the award was made posthumously, one year after his death and 32 years after he was first eligible. Pfffttt to those who think that if you don't get the call in the first 15 years, you never should. You can all suck it.
